Review of Tesla WYE 200W. Colorful, plastic
In this new review, we will tell you about an interesting box mod from Teslacigs with a strange name WYE 200W.
It just so happened that almost from time immemorial in the vape industry, the main material used in the manufacture of devices is exclusively metal. If you do not take into account some components of individual devices. This material gives Chinese (and not only) “gadgets” a kind of premium and expensive feel, although often the quality of this metal leaves much to be desired. Often, manufacturers try not to limit themselves to only metal in their box mods or atomizers and combine it, say, with plastic. But there are also completely plastic devices, which initially create a biased attitude due to their unreliability and fragility compared to their metal counterparts. Today we will talk about such a plastic box mod and learn about its possible advantages and disadvantages.
The culprit of our review today comes in a large white box, minimally decorated with various elements. On the front side, the box mod that is inside is shown off in all its details. buy e-liquids On the sides, for those who did not understand, the manufacturer printed the name of its company on both sides. The back side of the box contains much more information: the main technical characteristics, a list of the equipment, a code under the protective layer for checking the device for originality and other information that, usually, no one pays attention to. On one of the side faces there is the name of the box mod and its main distinguishing feature: light weight and “colorfulness”.
Let’s put the box aside, having previously opened it, and see what the Chinese manufacturer put in the kit with his box mod. Under the lid, we are greeted by the device itself, packed in film. Under the foam insert there is an extremely meager set in the form of a well-made micro-USB cable for charging and updating the firmware, as well as a set of waste paper. By the way, the manual also has Russian, although a little crooked. Nevertheless, a Russian-speaking user will still be able to glean some useful and necessary information.
Now let’s take a closer look at all that beauty that was carefully packed in plastic film – the WYE 200W box mod. I got this interesting option in terms of coloring for review. On the front side of the box mod, you can easily find a large and very convenient Fire button, as well as a screen with control buttons. The manufacturer did not forget to equip his device with a huge number of ventilation holes, some of which (8 pieces) are located right in front. The body of the device itself is made of black plastic with a slight “soft touch” effect, and green splashes of paint are scattered throughout the box mod in a chaotic manner. It looks, we must say, quite nice.
In total, the manufacturer offers as many as 6 possible colors, among which almost everyone can choose something to suit their mood and tastes. Among all this color variety, there are a couple of options for girls, but not necessarily. Unisex, in general.
Let’s move on and continue to examine the WYE 200W (oh, what a strange name) from all sides. On the two opposite sides of the box mod there are even more ventilation holes than on the front side. You can also see the joint where the battery compartment cover is fixed to the main body of the device. The guys from Teslacigs did not forget to decorate one of the sides of the box mod with huge letters. The back, however, like the lower part of the device, does not differ in the abundance of any particularly interesting elements.
The connector in the WYE 200W looks quite massive. It is steel, with a steel spring-loaded pin. I had no problems with screwing on various atomizers, the box mod sees everything. As for the maximum possible diameter of the atoms that will fit on this box mod and will not further irritate the perfectionist’s eyes with protruding sides, it is 25 mm. Separately, on the top of the box mod, you can note a small recess for, probably, collecting condensation and preventing liquid from getting directly into the connector.
The compartment cover for two 18650 batteries is made of plastic, like the box mod itself. The whole thing is held on four fairly powerful magnets, two of which are glued into the cover itself, and the other two are located in the battery compartment itself. Inside there is a designation on how to properly insert the batteries. By the way, the connection of the power elements here is sequential. I can’t say anything about the material from which the contacts are made. They look like steel, or maybe they are just covered with something. The upper contacts are spring-loaded here.
The 18650 batteries enter quite tightly. However, they are also pulled out back. It is important to perform this entire procedure very carefully, because it is quite easy to damage the heat shrink on your batteries. The contacts are still too tight. With the lid closed, as you may have already noticed, the batteries are clearly visible through two opposite ventilation holes. And okay, in my case the battery braiding more or less echoes the color of the box mod, but what if the batteries are a different color? Of course, Teslacigs did not take this into account. The lid, by the way, fits equally well in any position, so the holes for demonstrating your batteries can have different geometric shapes.
Impressions and conclusions
The WYE 200W box mod left me with mixed feelings throughout my testing. On the one hand, the device is well assembled, nothing shakes or creaks. The battery compartment cover sits like a glove, thanks to powerful magnets. I have practically no questions about the assembly and quality of the device. Just as there are no questions about the operation of the board. Having a lot of different necessary (or not) functionality on board, the proprietary chip from Tesla works great and has never let me down during operation. Pressing the Fire button works well, the box mod starts up instantly and, as they say, fries. As for ergonomics, everything is similarly at a good level. The device feels good in the hand due to the materials used in its creation. The large Fire button, no matter how you hold it, almost always ends up under the right finger. To summarize, the WYE 200W is very pleasant to use.
And now about the sad part. A little sad, to be more precise. The main feature of the box mod (plastic case and light weight) is also its main drawback. The fact that the device weighs almost nothing creates the impression that you are holding a toy in your hands. But that’s half the trouble. I seriously doubt that if it falls even from a small height, all this plastic painted with bright colors will not crack or shatter into pieces. And if the box mod also has batteries inserted into it, which will give it more solid weight, then it’s scary to imagine what will happen if it falls, say, on the asphalt. The last thing I would actually pick on is the huge holes in the places where the battery compartment cover is connected to the main body of the mod, through which the color of the batteries is clearly visible. The problem can be solved either by selecting batteries or replacing the heat shrink, which is a rather dubious pleasure.
Despite all the above disadvantages, the Tesla WYE 200W has many advantages and the box mod has a right to exist. Overall, I liked the device, because I couldn’t find anything that would categorically prevent me from using it. Verdict: good.
