Review of iStick Pico Plus by Eleaf

Today we will look at an old friend in a new image – a classic compact mod called iStick Pico Plus from the famous Chinese manufacturer Eleaf.

Packaging of iStick Pico Plus Kit

The kit came into my hands in a thick cardboard box, dressed in black and turquoise plum, on which a set of the current coloring is depicted. In addition to the device, on the front side there are pictograms with the main advantages of your purchase, on the side – links to the manufacturer’s resources, on the back side – a list of the contents, main characteristics, Eleaf company details, a mark next to the barcode about the color (I got Black) and the volume of the complete atomizer. buy vape pods On the side you can also find a sticker with a check of the originality of the device, the QR code leads to the site www.eleafworld.com, and the barcode under the erasable strip can be entered on a special page to find out if you have a fake.

The kit is equipped with the bare essentials for starting, in addition you will only need a battery and a jar of tasty liquid, and everything else is already there: two replacements at once (it is gratifying that both are hermetically sealed in blisters), USB Type-C cable for charging, a spare flask for the tank and a special key for disassembling the atomizer. Everything else is a traditional set of papers, among which you can find instructions translated into Russian, a warranty card that is useless in our reality, and even a description of the new technology from Eleaf/Wismec – AST, but we will talk about it a little later.

Appearance of the iStick Pico Plus Kit

It seems that Pico is the most successful box mod from the iStick family, which became a real find for the manufacturer, which has released a huge pack of similar devices of various shapes and sizes since the appearance of the first iSick Pico 75W. What wasn’t there! And the freak for two batteries Pico Dual, and the plastic-metal Pico 25, and the heavy Pico 21700 for a new battery format, and the fancy Pico S with a composite body, and the squonk Pico Sqweeze with a dripper included, and the plastic and light Pico X, and, finally, the Pico 2, which saw the light of day this year for atomizers up to ∅27 mm on the landing. But it seems that none of the “descendants” could repeat the wild popularity of the simple, inexpensive, but incredibly beloved by many vapers first “Pico” (which, by the way, can still be easily purchased). Otherwise, it is very difficult to explain the appearance of this model, since in front of us is visually almost the same device, but, as one of our readers noted, “in sandals and with a cap.” I will return to the appearance of the device and my impressions at the very end, but for now let’s consider what the manufacturer can please us with.

At the time of launch, Pico Plus is available in five colors: gray, silver, black, rose gold and pearl white. The MELO 4S tank, which is included with the box mod, is only available in two – black and steel – while the black one is supplied exclusively with the same battery pack.

Appearance and design of MELO 4S Tank

We can safely say about MELO 4S that this is another device in the countless series of devices that are of little interest to anyone (from experienced vapers). But at the same time, the tank belongs to a series of those atomizers that become the first for beginners. Precisely because they come “as a bonus” to many good mods of the manufacturer, without greatly increasing the overall price tag of the setup. Of course! The calculation is based on the fact that the owner of such a “gift” will regularly purchase evaporators in the future. After all, not everyone is ready to mess around with maintenance, spend their time and energy on it, and that is why atomizers on evaporators and pods will never disappear from the shelves of vape shops. We should study how MELO 4S differs from MELO 4, which for a long time was MELO 4S Tank from Eleaf and the standard “ballast” in Eleaf kits.

The top cap is decorated with a small and tenacious knurling around the circle, allowing you to easily manipulate the filling cap. The cap itself ends with a cone, on which rises a drip tip with an external diameter of 14 mm and, most unusually, a 510 format. That is, you can replace the complete mouthpiece with your own of the same format. The complete one is made of delrin, is held in the tank by two black O-rings and does its job perfectly: it does not heat up, does not collect condensation, and is simply pleasant to use.

Appearance and design of the iStick Pico Plus

Perhaps I was not the only one who was blown away by the misunderstanding into which the designers (Deigned by ___PIPELINE – who are they anyway?) turned the old Pico 75W. On the one hand, it is quite obvious that the company wanted to make the device fit larger atomizers, instead of the 22 mm that the first Pico was capable of, but why do it this way? In general, this is a rhetorical question to which you can come up with a hundred answers. But one thing is clear: Eleaf has already tried other methods: Pico 25 and Pico 2 confirm this. And the result, it seems, did not inspire either the manufacturer or the users. In general, now we have this freak.

Dimensions of the iStick Pico Plus from Eleaf in the hand

However, despite its awkward shape, the device does not cause the slightest trouble in the hand, i.e. remains small, light (though not as fluffy as my favorite Swag 2) and very easy to use device: the protrusions at the top and bottom do not interfere at all, as they are skillfully rounded, but on the contrary, help to hold. But, of course, the “cap and sandals” for this “guy” are indeed too big, and the setup with a 25 mm atomizer resembles another version of a “grenade”.

Impressions and conclusions

Perhaps the biggest complaint about the mod is its frankly ugly appearance, spoiled by the upper and lower protrusions. It seems that the developers remembered the old iStick 30W with the same visor and decided “Why not?”, so they “slapped” these very growths on the old Pico. Instead of inflating the case, as they did with the Pico 25 before. Frankly speaking, it turned out so-so. But otherwise, I have no questions about the kit. The tank is still not very suitable here (it would be better to put a cigarette GZeno Tank in the kit), since it is more sharpened for free and semi-free tightening, despite the 510 drip tip. I also do not understand why the developers of the Eleaf boards removed such a small but important function as automatic switching on of the device after replacing the battery. It’s not that it’s critical, but it’s just inconvenient. As well as the fact that the manufacturer can’t figure out how to make a circular scrolling of the power. Yes, the device, for all its simplicity and outward unpretentiousness, is a fairly advanced device that supports various functions (personally, I only lack a varivolt), and at the same time it is perfect even for beginners, since it does not shove its capabilities in your face, and you still need to get to the various modes. But, in general, nothing new has appeared here except for Type-C and AST. What confused me most was the indication in the official Eleaf store that the board supports resistance only from 0.3 Ohm (it says so there, but if they fix it, I saved a screenshot), and this already frankly smells of a downgrade even compared to the first “Pico”. In fact, the device refused to vape only a winding with a very extreme 0.06 Ohm on my old Petri V2, but 0.09 on the Tannhauser Gate V2 with a creak, but on a fresh battery it rocked. But quite quickly the Weak battery began to complain and I stopped tormenting the baby.
