Review of Eleaf iStick Power 2C
Today we will take a detailed look at the new box mod called iStick Power 2C from the famous Chinese manufacturer Eleaf. And at the same time we will also take a quick look at the iStick Power 2.
iStick Power 2C packaging
The device came into my hands in a small but weighty black box made of thick cardboard with a colored cover, which depicts the device itself in its current design, its name, the manufacturer’s logo and the main features of the mod. new zealand vape On the back are listed the package contents and specifications, on one of the side walls are the names of Eleaf accounts in social networks, on the other is an originality verification sticker with a QR code (leads to the website www.eleafworld.com) and a scratch-off layer, where the code is hidden, which can be checked on a special page.
iStick Power 2C Box Mod (or iStick Power 2)
User Manual
Warranty Card
USB Type-C Cable
The device is sold in two versions: both separately and in a set with a new tank called GTL Pod Tank (available in two types: for 2 or 4.5 ml of liquid, designed for GTL 1.2 Ohm, GTL 0.8 Ohm and GTL 0.4 Ohm evaporators), in the set with the tank you will find two more replacements. In our set, in addition to the box mod, you can find only a half-meter (used to be longer!) thick charging cable, instructions, a useless unfilled warranty card and a card with a warning stating that for your own safety, the insulation and braid on the batteries must be intact.
Appearance and design of iStick Power 2C
Since its appearance on the market, the iPower box mod (and this is precisely the reincarnation of this “iStick”, as the inscription on the left side of the case clearly hints at), which grew out of the once legendary and beloved by many iStick 50, although at one time it never received a continuation, but still earned recognition due to its decent power and low price. True, all Eleaf devices of that time had one common problem – the connector, but since then the manufacturer has made a serious step forward and got rid of many childhood illnesses.
Our new product already bears little resemblance to the first (and only) 80-watt iStick iPower from five years ago, which stood out noticeably against the background of the rest of the company’s products; the metal and leather used in the design already refer to the new trend among Eleaf designers, which can be seen in the iSolo Air and iSolo R Pod. The metal part of the case has a matte, slightly rough and fingerprint-resistant (but easily scratched) coating, the side walls and the back are covered with two pieces of material that very realistically imitate leather with even stitching in light brown (or black) threads along the edge. Thanks to the materials, the device turned out to be neat, stylish, one might even say, expensively rich premium, but at the same time quite large and weighty. The box fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, pleasantly weighs down your hand, inspiring confidence in its reliability, but also noticeably weighs down your pockets. The iStick Power 2C is best carried in a jacket or even in a bag; even in the most spacious shorts, this piece of metal will be frankly uncomfortable.
Screen and control of iStick Power 2C
The box mod is equipped with a color, as the manufacturer writes, big and bright (in fact, quite standard and very dim outdoors) display. In the case, one of Joyetech/Wismec/Eleaf’s own boards is hidden, traditionally called Avatar Controls and also traditionally without mentioning any specifications, version or generation, except for the indication that it is a Smart Chip. Control is carried out using three buttons: a round, large (∅13 mm) and well-protruding Fire button on top, and a double rocker “-” / “+” under the screen. The buttons do not rattle when shaken, do not jingle when touched and are pressed with a clear metallic click and a clear stroke. On the right is a connector for charging and (theoretically) firmware. At the time of publication of this review, there was no software for updating the firmware of the iStick Power 2/2C in the Downloads section on the manufacturer’s website.
The device is turned on and off by a standard five-time press on Fire. Unfortunately, after installing the batteries, the board has to be restarted each time. The display simultaneously displays graphic icons for each battery separately, a lock for blocking the control buttons, large – power or voltage, a small wave in the form of an equalizer (“comes to life” during operation), the selected mode (Smart, Power or Voltage), the resistance of the atomizer winding, the puff counter and the duration of the last press on Fire. When you press Fire three times, the “-” and “+” are locked, when you press “-” and Fire, the stealth mode is turned on and off. When you turn off the board, you can see the firmware version of your mod, in my case it is the date 20210321.
Impressions and conclusions
To be honest, I have recently lost track of Eleaf products (except for a couple of devices like the good iStick S80 and the very old and incredibly dull iJust 21700), and so I was pleasantly surprised that the manufacturer is able to offer something else interesting besides the immortal “Pico” and the morally outdated “iJusts”. iStick Power 2/2C is a device that can please both all fans of sub-ohm tanks and thick clouds who are looking for a nice and powerful battery unit, and those who need a “long-lasting” mod. If only the manufacturer would offer a third version, with parallel connection of batteries… Oh, the dreams! But not everything is rosy in the device, since in my opinion it really lacks support for a resistance lower than 0.1 Ohm, at least a couple more modes (but you can close your eyes to this if you do not use temperature control), and the size and weight (metal case) are unlikely to be comfortable for everyone. But these are more personal complaints than shortcomings, so you can safely close your eyes to them. As a power source capable of pumping a dripper with not the lowest resistance winding, or for a cigarette tank, which is guaranteed to work all day on some fresh LG HG2, this box mod is perfect. In favor of the new product are the exterior, and simple clear controls, and a wide connector platform (they started the fashion of releasing MTL tanks at 24 mm!), and even the fact that you can buy a version with a built-in battery so as not to spend money on replaceable batteries and external charging. And in this device, USB Type-C does not look like a joke at all, as in many pod systems, the installed board supports the promised 2A and the device actually charges quickly.
